"Why So Serious.."

With Joker steaLing the LimeLight of Late, his favourite quote has become of hot househoLd usage.

"Why so serious.."

Indeed. We shouLd Lighten ourseLves sometimes.

And so at the end of the enduring 12-day work, I decided to join CLement at Zouk. Wat I din expect was to be in a cLique of exchange students from Austria, as Kenny brought aLong his friends from faraway.

Itz a LittLe awkward to converse fLuentLy coz I have been using LittLe EngLish since graduation from schooL. But as the night went on, things got better, and Steven, the onLy Austrian guy, began to understand my words much more easiLy.

Fact one, in terms of beer, the Austrians are toppers as one of the Largest consumpting countries in the worLd. The first being Czech RepubLic.

Fact two, Mambo night is fuLL of fun, especiaLLy when u see many peopLe doing the same hand signs .. I mean hand dancing.

Fact three, I'm starting to reaLise that cLubbers are mostLy very happy peopLe. Even for those who are attached, they are there to meet peopLe and reLease themseLves.

I think I have started to change my perception about cLubbing. Itz a reaLLy good sociaL venue.

Pink, BLack, Grey.

Pink represents my identity card which reunites itz owner after two years. Others are joyous over the occasion, but not for me. There is nothing to be proud of compLeting NationaL Service at 24. For my own foLLy during the younger days, I'm thus deprived of certain emotions that peopLe taking the common route are entitLed to feeL.

BLack represents The Dark Knight a.k.a Batman. Right after coLLecting pink, the mates and I went watching the Latest bLockbuster. For a mere six bucks, I must say itz been a bargain. The many twists and turns in the story makes it one not to be missed. I appLaud the script writer for a story exceLLentLy written. Not forgetting the roLe of Heath Ledger (deceased) as Joker, and he makes his roLe so LiveLy that the Oscar deserves to go to him despite his absence in the reaL worLd. With so many great movies around, this has beaten off competition to become my movie of the year.

Grey is the coLour of my Life, as of now. It shouLd change. Not that things ain good .. itz juz not exciting, even though some peopLe think that I have an interesting Life with incidents Like making a referee so frustrated, he stops the game and come chasing me for a punch .. and the accidentaL burning of my armpit hair (juz becoz someone commented it was bushy and so I took the Lighter and Lit it near the affected area).

Like they say, what doesnt break you, make you stronger. And that whatever goes down have to come up. I wiLL become one great man.

Another Beginning

I am empLoyed. And soon, Like everyone, my Life wiLL be dedicated to working in exchange for the medium everybody craves - money.

Somehow satisfied with what I wouLd be getting, I cant but heLp feeLing jeaLous about one good friend of mine. Mr. FooL, a good man, has recentLy graduated with a good degree. He has since been hired and paid good money. Ehh, make it great money in fact.

So much so making me wonder for a second if I have made the correct choice in choosing a job which does not aLLow me to commit time to further my studies concurrentLy.

Like it or not, we aLL need that piece of paper for survivaL. Not unLess one is happy with just enough to Live and not wanting to set up a home in the future.

PeopLe's Association, here I come.

SettLing Down

One thing I do not understand is, why cLose friends of mine, they beLieve that I have the highest probabiLity of getting tied down the earLiest amongst aLL.

Somehow peopLe misjudge my character with my LifestyLe. They do not have a direct reLationship with each other. Outgoing does not mean one-night stands or a shotgun marriage ending.

But of course, I have aLways dreamt of a son.

Some Things Never Change

This is wat happens when u have Guoann around, in this case, a broken mug at Yongren's pLace watching Euro 2008. Yes, his middLe name is cLumsy.

This is the perfect thirst-quencher at the AMK Ave 10 hawker since my secondary schooL days.

Before.

After.

This is wat u get from typicaL Singaporeans whenever a saLe is on.

Somehow, year after year, some things juz never change

The Singing Neighbour

For years since I was LittLe, I have grown pretty used to hearing this man Living above my house sing, yet not knowing how he reaLLy Looked Like, and I din reaLLy bother to find out anyway.

Last evening, the guys were Leaving for home after the usuaL footbaLL session. Four of us decided to haiL a cab home to chase time for the EURO Cup match Later on. InitiaLLy we saw a cab with bLue top (signifying vacancy) from a distance at the traffic Light. It must come to us, I thought. Then as the traffice Light turns green, a hand comes waving right in front of our dear eyes, and the cab stopped for that hand.

NaturaLLy me, I cursed and swear LoudLy.

So we spent the next coupLe of minutes waiting for another. It came.

This taxi driver, he is pretty cautious. He requested niceLy for our front passenger, Daren, to put on the seatbeLt for he does not want Daren to pay for unecessary action. And so we started a conversation. He was asking which part of the street we are going to coz he stays at the same area.

And we asked him which street.

"61."

Then we asked him which bLock.

"692."

Wah, cant be that coincidentaL. I asked if his door is number 140.

"Yes!"

Oh my, I finaLLy met the man who has been singing into my ears for years.

I cannot beLieve it, neither can he. He does not recognise me, but know every name of my sibLings. It is that smaLL .. this worLd, our worLd.

This is wat happens when u have somebody eLse to do registration for urseLf ..

Thanks to Jasmine Tan, shouLd I require bLood tranfusion on that fatefuL day, I wouLd have been dead by the time they found out my bLood type. But anyways she has aLready been notified about the fact and it is A+ (not some "I-do-not-know" bLood type).

Singapore 3 : 7 Uzbekistan

Other than having a rich array of foreign-based pLayers who doesnt even know how to sing the Singapore nationaL anthem, the Singapore footbaLL team is a compLete thrash.

With a heaLthy turnout of LocaL fans incLuding me at the historic KaLLang stadium which seems never-gonna-cLose-down even though the cLosing ceremony had been done with, we expect the footbaLL team to at Least fight with some passion Lah ..

Wat the heLL, an embarassment on the pitch, and off the pitch as weLL, as I have seen. One Singaporean man, wearing the Dutch nationaL jersey, freaking cheering when the Uzbekistanis scored. It brought much curiosity to the angmohs seated behind him, and they asked him why.

I do not have to hear his expLanation, for in our country, the passion for this game can never be comparabLe to the great footbaLLing nations. Our peopLe are brought up to Love tangibLe stuff that money can buy instead, and of coz other than their own money, who reaLLy cares about what the country is doing in the other areas not even cLose to affecting their Lives.

IndividuaListic.

That is typicaL Singaporeans nowadays. Of coz, we can say we have no choice that we are Like that but, are we Living a Life then? Or are we even feeLing being part of Singapore? FeeL.

This may be just footbaLL, but see for urseLf the cuLture that seems to be aLmost remarkabLe yet short of warmth.

Two WorLds

$3600. That is the amount that changes my Life so compLeteLy for now. As of yesterday I am not so stabLe anymore untiL a job is found.

But on the bright side, I met a very interesting person on the net (I reaLLy mean, met), and made up with a good friend in Jerms.

And so probabLy thatz what they say, in Life, you Lose some and you win some.

100 Yuan vs. 1,000,000 Yuan

U wun know how amazing the Chinese can be in difficuLt times.

WeLL of course, we do not want to mention some Chinese superstar basketbaLLer in the U.S who earns SGD 75 miLLion in 2007 yet initiaLLy contributed peanuts to the quake reLief fund, sparking an outrage from his comrades back at home.

The focus shouLd be put on peopLe Like a handicapped begger who is bearLy a metre taLL, having received a 100-yuan note from a tourist, struggLes his way to the donation box to make his contribution of the note he has just received. And aLso a homeLess oLd man who makes a donation of 5 yuan in the morning, onLy to return in the afternoon to make more contributions coz he feLt that his shiLLings were a shame to be contributed and he went to the bank to change for a 100-yuan biLL, and that is everything he has.

The vaLue of 100 yuan and 1,000,000 yuan, now can you see the gap other than pureLy numbers?

Do take some time to browse through the site as foLLows:

Trust me, itz worth every second of ur time.

WorLd PopuLation

There are certain facts which depicts how big the worLd is .. and how smaLL our country, or rather, one person, can be.

With reference from DHL commerciaL, there are 88 miLLion peopLe with the surname, Zhang, in China. And it is just Zhang aLone ..

There are 350 miLLion peopLe in India who are cLassified as middLe-cLass. This is bigger than America. And the funny thing is George Bush bLames this for the rise in demand for food, thus causing the prices to hike.

The recent cycLone in Myanmar kiLLed more than 20,000, so much more than the number in my bank account.

The earthquake in China buries 12,000 under rubbLe .. and counting.
